Kristin Walker
I am a native of the Island of Jamaica, however I was raised in Brooklyn, New York for most of my childhood and adult life. I attended Medgar Evers College where I completed my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. I then attended Brooklyn College where I completed my Master’s Degree in Reading. I am certified in New York State as well as in North Carolina. In addition, I am certified in the Wilson Reading System. Further I am an author of a book entitled, “My Daughter’s Journey with Sickle Cell Disease”.Presently, i am completing EdD Program at Walden University with a concentration in Literacy, Reading and Assessments.
I have been teaching for over 25 years. I started in Middle School, teaching grades six, thru eighth English Language Arts. Thereafter, I became the Reading Specialist for those grades. After 8 years of working in New York City Public School System, I resigned and started a preschool which is still in operation.
In 2012, I relocated to North Carolina and worked in the Durham Public School System for two years teaching Kindergarten. At the end of 2014 I joined the Wake County School System teaching kindergarten and now two years in first grade.
